Overview
Indian Government provides many scholarships that allow candidates to continue their education in India. Eligibility Criteria
For a person to be eligible to register with the Registrar, they must first meet these criteria:
- From 1 April 2019, the age of applicants must be under 35.
- The applicant must be of Scheduled Cassites (SC)/ Denotified NomadicTribes Semi NomadicTribes Landless Agricultural Workers and Traditional Artists
- A candidate should be prepared to do a Ph.D. in addition to a Master’s degree abroad.
- To be eligible for the Ph.D. program, a candidate must hold at least a 60% grade (or comparable) in completing a graduate or doctoral level degree.
- Candidates for masters must hold at least a bachelor’s degree, with a grade of 60%.
- Salary for family members must not surpass Rs 8,000,000
- After completing a Diploma, a candidate can complete BSc in Engineering. In this case the grades earned for the Bachelors are considered.
A Benefits List for the National Overseas Scholarship Program 2024
The support provided by law is valid until a research project, course of study, or the date following its conclusion.

Air Passage
- Three approved travel agencies can sell awardees tickets that will take them from their nearest airport to Indian Hometown and to the place near the institution of higher education, before returning to India. Balmer Lawrie and Company Limited Ashok Travels and Tours and Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd., are three of the travel agencies that have been authorized.
- It is up to the awardees who book the tickets. They are not eligible for any refunds of fees such as booking costs, excess baggage charges, cancellation charges and other fees.
- Indian Missions overseas can reimburse awardees’ airfares upon joining University.
- Indian Missions will book tickets for return as per clause 11iii.
- This contingency can be spent on: essential equipment, books, study trips, conference attendance, workshops or other events related to your thesis topic, typesetting and binding, etc.
Step
- Registration and examination fees. Library membership fees, enrollment into the library and any other fee. English language or English classes are free.
- The allowances can be increased in several ways, such as through research and teaching.
- Train fares in second or coach class can be used to travel between your residence and the point where you disembarked. It is acceptable to use bus fares if the area you live in cannot be easily reached by rail. Air fares, ferry fares and fares for cruises are other options.
- Government of India and Indian Missions determine the amount of financial assistance that is granted.
- Maintenance allowances will be calculated at the rates applicable when an NOS candidate chooses to conduct research in India with the permission of the Indian Mission in India or the University. SJ&E’s National Fellowship Program will set the rates in India.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship you need to submit:
- Certificate of Caste & Category
- Date of Birth Certificate
- Photo
- Signatures Scannable
- Address proof
- Prove your address
- The degree and qualification mark sheets
- Documents required for international university enrollment
- Un Revenue Officer (not lower than “Tehsildar”), who belongs to the same family as the candidate(s), will provide a certification of income.
- Employees: Certificate of No Objection from Employer
- In the event that the applicant is accepted, the National Overseas Scholarships program will provide a certificate of recognition. These documents are required by the applicant to be registered.

- Passport copies
- Self declaration and undertaking regarding annual total salary of the family
- Declare any case that is pending or that has not been convicted of an offense
National Overseas Scholarships for 2024: Selected Process
The selection process will consist of only two rounds. Every choice cycle the merit list of eligible candidates is drawn based on their QS ranking from foreign universities or institutions where they received the offer.
Candidates with higher ranked institutions or Universities will receive a better ranking on merit lists. When there are two or more candidates with the same QS rank, their merit rankings will be determined according to the marks and grades they received in the qualification examinations.
